As usual, Ohio State has a loaded freshman class. Guys like Chris Henry Jr., Legend Bey, and Cincere Johnson were well-known commodities, but one true freshman seems to be making more waves than any other, and he just lost his black stripe. Cornerback Jay Timmons has been officially welcomed to the Brotherhood.
Timmons was a late addition to the class after flipping his commitment from Florida State to the Buckeyes less than a month before signing day. Not only is Timmons impressing coaches and fellow teammates, but it also sounds like he could be pushing for legitimate playing time this season. It was a massive coup to flip Timmons from FSU, as his father played for the Seminoles in the mid 2000’s and was drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in the NFL for 11 years.
Timmons was the No. 4-ranked cornerback in the 2026 class and a top-50 overall player according to 247Sports composite rankings.
Timmons becomes the first freshman and the third Buckeye to lose his black stripe during preseason training camp, joining Ja’Kobi Jackson and Stanley Jackson Jr.
