Todd Dao and Will Heckman each fired a 72 at Chapel Hill on Aug. 10 to share medalist honors and lead the Granville boys golf team to the team win during the second Licking County League event of the season.
Dao recorded four birdies in shooting even par, and Heckman recorded three birdies. They finished in a three-way tie for first with Mount Vernon’s Corbin Davis.
Hudson Hall added a 76, tying for seventh and Tripp Miller a 79, placing 14th for the Blue Aces, who shot 299. Mount Vernon shot 307 and Licking Valley 314. Johnstown, the top Cardinal Division team, shot 333.
Johnstown’s Will Taylor fired a 73 to place fourth and finish just one shot behind the leaders. Northridge’s Ben Hoover and Valley’s Jackson Gieseler shot 74 apiece to tie for fifth.
Johnstown’s Keaton Archibald, Watkins Memorial’s Adler McClintock and Valley’s Landon Hinger each shot 77 to tie for ninth. Utica’s Jaxson Riggs added a 78, finishing in a tie for 12th. Among those in the next wave of finishers were Valley’s Brody Wolfe and Granville’s Stevie Joseph at 80 apiece, Granville’s A.J. Stump at 81 and Newark Catholic teammates Hal Gillespie and Alex Nagel at 82 apiece.
