Two people were injured and a Columbus police officer opened fire in a shooting on the city’s north side.
At 10:35 p.m. Aug. 17, officers were following up on a previous incident on the 600 block of Gibbard Avenue when unknown suspects fired shots at them and residents, according to a Columbus police news release. Two adult female residents who were talking to officers were injured by the gunfire.
One officer fired at the suspects, but it was not clear whether the shots hit them, according to the news release. The two adults were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Police have not identified the suspects and said their motive is unknown. Police have not said what incident officers were following up on.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating.
