Where to watch July 4 fireworks in Corning, Elmira areas? Here's what's on tap in region

Opportunities abound in the Southern Tier for those looking for a place to watch fireworks for the Fourth of July.

On Independence Day, fireworks in downtown Corning’s Gaffer District will be presented by the Corning Lions Club.

Fireworks will light up the skies over the Chemung River near the Riverfront Park, according to the Gaffer District. The show will begin at 9:45 p.m. The Corning Area Community Concert Band will play a free show from 7-9 p.m. in Centerway Square before the fireworks.

“To celebrate the country and celebrate the community, and see all the people coming together to have a good time and be patriotic, is really meaningful to all of us who are concerned about community spirit and community wellbeing,” said Dr. Edward Cordes, of the Corning Lions Club.

Here are other places to catch organized Fourth of July fireworks shows and other Independence Day parades and carnivals in the Southern Tier.

Dunn Field will get things started with a fireworks show after the Elmira Pioneers baseball game Thursday, July 3.

Holiday hours at Elmira’s Eldridge Park are noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 4.

Saturday, July 5 will feature the “Party in the Park” from 2-9 p.m. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for a full day of fun. Food will be available at many food trucks and vendors, listen to music during the day, sing karaoke and enjoy rides.

Parking is free and there is a shuttle available from the nearby Wegmans Parking lot. Adult beverages will be available from Grand Central Beer with a valid ID.

Fireworks are expected around 10 p.m.

Watkins Glen

Hammondsport

The Hammondsport Fire Department will host the 2025 carnival Thursday through Saturday at the fire department grounds off Route 54 in Hammondsport. Officials said the three-day event features carnival rides, games, prizes, food, a fireman’s water ball competition July 3, bike giveaways and fun for the entire family.

Saturday will feature kids’ fire truck rides from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; car shows from noon to 4 p.m. and the annual Fireman’s Parade at 6 p.m. Fireworks will be at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Independence Day in Hornell starts with a parade down Main Street at noon highlighted by a performance from Drumbeat Percussions, the official drumline of the Buffalo Bills. The Cruizen Time Car Show is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at James Street Park. The park will have family-friendly entertainment, including music, kids’ activities, and free access to the city pool from noon to 6 p.m.
