A truck driver from Tennessee died after a late-night crash on the New York State Thruway in Chautauqua County on Monday.
Here’s what to know about the fatal one-vehicle crash:
Tractor-trailer left the Thruway
The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 in the town of Hanover, according to New York State Police.
A tractor-trailer hauling a 53-foot trailer was traveling east when it left the roadway and struck a guide rail, troopers said.
Driver airlifted to Buffalo hospital
The driver, Petros D. Liben, 54, of Bartlett, Tennessee, suffered serious injuries to his face and abdomen, according to State Police.
Liben was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Investigation continues
State Police are continuing to investigate the crash. No additional information was immediately available.
