Tompkins County voters hit the polls on Election Day 2025 to decide key local races and the Board of Elections released its unofficial results.
All 15 county legislator positions were open, and all but three were uncontested. In District 7, 659 write-in votes were tallied, boosting Deborah Dawson’s write-in effort after the current District 10 representative decided to run in the redrawn district. John Dennis previously dropped out of the race and still had 515 votes.
In District 8, Republican Michael J. Sigler topped Democrat James Perkins with about 55% of the vote. In District 10, Democrat Dan Wakeman’s 1,046 votes outpaced Thomas Corey, who had 350. Democrat Christy Bianconi defeated Michelle E. Wright, 400-292 in the 14th District.
In the city of Ithaca, Democrats Jorge DeFendini in the First Ward and Hannah Shvets in the Fifth Ward won the only contested Common Council races.
