A major business development in the City of Hornell is already cleaning up.
Cars and trucks, that is.
Real Clean, an express tunnel car wash at 215 Hornell St., posted an illuminated “OPEN” sign on its Facebook page on Feb. 11 while a steady stream of motor vehicles rolled through the state-of-the-art facility for initial washes.
Real Clean welcomed its first customers on Feb. 10.
Developed by Hornell native Dustin Broderick, the business features a full range of wash packages, including unlimited monthly plans, prepaid options, family and fleet programs and single washes.
Every wash includes hand prep of each vehicle, and customers can take advantage of free vacuums, air dusters and drying towels on site.
Broderick chose his hometown for his first business and he said he is thrilled with how things have started.
“It’s amazing. The outpouring has been incredible. We saw a ton of interest (Tuesday) and a lot of happy customers. We are excited to be up and running and serving customers,” he said.
“We had a good showing and despite the long lines, they move really fast because it is an express wash. So, come on in, even though the line might seem long.”
Real Clean’s debut has been highly anticipated, with construction progress clearly visible from state Route 36.
In the lead up to opening, Broderick said he was “overjoyed” by the response to Real Clean’s online store when it went live late last year.
For now, access to Real Clean is via Adsit Street to Hornell Street. Eventually, motorists will have the ability to turn off Route 36 onto a new connector road that will lead to the car wash.
Broderick donated a portion of his land for the new access road, which is expected to be constructed concurrently with the State of New York’s Route 36 Gateway Corridor transformation.
According to the business website, Real Clean will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday thru Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. The business is expected to employ about 10 team members.
The development area was previously vacant, covered with woods, grass and brush. The car wash has been under development for about two years. It sits on approximately two acres.
