One driver critically injured in Manchester crash at Route 96 intersection

Two drivers were injured — one critically — in a crash Tuesday afternoon in the town of Manchester, Ontario County.

New York State Police said a northbound car driven by a 55-year-old man failed to stop at a stop sign on County Road 7 and entered the intersection with Route 96 around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6. The car was then struck by a westbound box truck driven by a 30-year-old man from Fairport.

Both vehicles overturned and came to rest off the roadway. The 55-year-old man was transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he remains in critical condition, troopers said. The 30-year-old driver was taken by private vehicle to F.F. Thompson Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

State police said the investigation is ongoing and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
