The New York Giants are hosting free-agent running back Najee Harris on a visit Monday, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Harris, a former first-round pick out of Alabama, spent his first four NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of those campaigns and earned a Pro Bowl nod after the 2021 season.
In 2025, he signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he showed early promise in Greg Roman’s offense before tearing his Achilles in Week 3. He finished that year with just 15 carries for 61 yards.
Now 28 and progressing through rehabilitation, Harris has drawn interest around the league as he works back toward full health. He has already visited other clubs this summer while insisting he can be ready for the start of the regular season.
The Giants’ current running back group includes Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary. New York has been open to upgrading or adding depth at the position since before the draft. That interest takes on added urgency after Dante Miller sustained a groin injury in Saturday’s preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Harris offers a familiar schematic connection as well. Roman, who coordinated the Chargers’ offense last season, now serves as a senior offensive assistant under John Harbaugh.
A short-term deal could give the Giants a proven power back and insurance while allowing Harris to ease back into a complementary role.
