A man in his 60s died Monday morning after falling from a third-floor window at a nursing home in Rochester’s Charlotte neighborhood.
Here’s what we know about the death:
Man falls from third-floor window
First responders were called to Waterview Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 135 Meriden St., around 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, after a patient reportedly fell from a third-floor window at the facility, Rochester police Capt. Greg Bello said.
Authorities found the man on the ground, Bello said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say no criminality suspected
Police are investigating the death but said there is no indication that it involved criminal activity, Bello said.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call 911.
Waterview Heights set to close
The 229-bed facility is set to close next week.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services terminated Waterview Heights’ Medicare and Medicaid provider agreements, effective Aug. 25. The state will oversee the transfer of residents to other facilities.
The closure follows years of violations, fines and failed inspections, according to CMS.
The center, which offered long-term and short-term care, is located in a neighborhood off Beach Avenue in Rochester’s Charlotte neighborhood, near Ontario Beach Park.
