New York Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy highlighted several encouraging performances from skill-position players and the running back group on Tuesday as the team works through training camp installs.

Rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields has stood out early. Nagy praised the young receiver’s focus and execution.

“It’s impressive. He’s a kid that, literally every install that we do, run and pass, he’s a kid that when you’re walking up in front of the group and you’re teaching, his eyes never leave you. Never. I mean, he wants to know everything. Then he gets on the field and he does almost everything right. And then he’s talented,” Nagy told reporters. “I think a lot of him, and I think Chad Hall’s done a hell of a job with him.”

Tight end Isaiah Likely has provided a reliable target and comfort level for quarterback Jaxson Dart. Nagy pointed to Likely’s experience and understanding of the system.

“It’s nice to have because Isaiah, he has some experience here, and so there’s a comfort level of a guy that knows. There’s a trust in this thing,” Nagy said. “Zay’s done a great job. He’s super smart, gets it both in the run and pass game, competitive.”

The running back room also drew positive reviews. Nagy said Cam Skattebo “looks really good” and is improving daily after his return. Tyrone Tracy Jr. remains “a super smooth guy that just does everything the right way,” while Devin Singletary and younger backs add to what Nagy called “a great mix.”

Assistant offensive coaches Mike Bloomgren, Greg Roman and Grant Newsome have helped create running lanes and solid protection. Nagy said the group likes where it stands with the backfield and continues to see steady improvement across the skill positions.
