The New York Giants will host the Minnesota Vikings in their first preseason game of the year on Saturday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
A handful of starters are likely to be sidelined for the opening contest. Star quarterback Jaxson Dart could be among them, as head coach John Harbaugh dodged the question when asked about Dart’s availability on Saturday.
If Dart sits out on Saturday, he would more than likely make his preseason debut against the Miami Dolphins next weekend following a joint practice. The rising star will need to stay as healthy as possible this season and may play a limited amount of football throughout the preseason.
Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will play in the Giants’ preseason opener on Saturday. Harbaugh shared an update on the receiver’s status following practice on Wednesday, and OBJ appears ready for the contest against the Vikings this weekend.
If Dart is held out on Saturday, veteran Jameis Winston will likely get the call before giving way to journeyman Brandon Allen, who has led the NFL in preseason passing over the past decade.
