A free event that is all about veterans and their loved ones is coming to Hornell later this month.
The We Are‑Dwyer Veterans Freedom Festival, a vibrant celebration of patriotism, service, and community, is on tap for July 12 at Kanakadea Park.
The festival is open to all U.S. Armed Forces veterans and their families and is free to attend. Please register in advance by using the event’s using the QR code. Registration can also be made by calling the Veterans One-stop Center at 607-361-2259.
In addition to a picnic, music and games, groups and agencies that support veterans will be in the same place at the same time to answer questions and promote programs and services available for veterans.
The Freedom Festival is set to run from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Veterans and family picnic: Enjoy complimentary lunch, beverages, and shared camaraderie in a relaxed, festive atmosphere.
Live music and entertainment: Featuring the White River Band, provided in sponsorship by Hornell VFW Post 2250.
Kid Zone & Family Activities: Carnival-style games, face painting, and lawn sports for all ages.
Community Resource Fair connects veterans with community support
Connect with local organizations supporting veterans like AMVETS, Fidelis Care Health Insurance, Well Care, Hornell Partners for Growth, the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Dwyer Peer Support Program, the American Red Cross, U.S. Veterans Affairs and mental health, employment, education and housing resources from various organizations.
We are Dwyer provides peer support within the veteran community, raises awareness of veteran issues and stresses collective efforts to address common challenges, celebrate achievements, and maintain the dignity and honor of their service.
