Buffalo Bills head coach tracker 2026: Interviews, candidates, updates

Brandon Beane said the Buffalo Bills’ head coaching search would be “100% open.”

For all the scrutiny Beane and owner Terry Pegula faced after their press conference, that part has already proven true. The Bills’ interview list includes a coach who has already agreed to another job and a former quarterback who started an NFL game less than a month ago.

Buffalo is casting a wide net across experience levels, backgrounds, and even availability.

This tracker will be updated as interviews are completed, new candidates emerge, and the process unfolds.

Reported or upcoming interviews

(Based on media reports; not yet confirmed by the team)

Mike McDaniel, former Dolphins head coach

McDaniel has already agreed to become offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers but is still permitted to interview for head coaching jobs. His inclusion underscores how broadly Buffalo is searching.

Lynn previously coached in Buffalo as running backs coach and offensive coordinator, and served as interim head coach in 2016 after Rex Ryan was fired. He later went 33–31 as head coach of the Chargers.

Grant Udinski, Jaguars offensive coordinator

Udinski, 30, is one of the youngest coordinators in the league and has been credited with helping stabilize Trevor Lawrence’s development in Jacksonville.

Anthony Weaver, Dolphins defensive coordinator

Weaver previously coached in Buffalo under Doug Marrone and led the Dolphins defense the last two seasons.
