2025 NFL trade deadline: Jets make first deal trading Micheal Carter II for receiver addition

The New York Jets have made their first deal ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets (1-7) have traded cornerback Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) for wide receiver John Metchie and a 2027 Round 6 selection:

Carter was a fifth-round pick of the Jets in 2021. He recently had been dealing with a concussion and has not suited up for New York.

In 65 games played for the Green and White, Carter has 26 passes defended, a forced fumble and two interceptions.

Metchie has appeared in seven games for the Eagles this year. He has just four catches for 18 yards. In 13 games for the Houston Texans in 2024, Matchie had 24 catches, 254 yards and one touchdown.

Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2025 season.
