WHO 13 weather team adds new meteorologist for weekend mornings. Meet Matthew Glanzmann.

WHO-TV is adding a new member to its weather team.

On Oct. 25, Matthew Glanzmann made his WHO debut as the station’s newest meteorologist.

Glanzmann will be working as the station’s weekend morning meteorologist on a part-time basis. The Elk Grove, Illinois, native is currently attending Iowa State. As part of his duties with WHO, Glanzmann will be featured on Today in Iowa Weekends.

“A top student of Iowa State University, Matthew brings both academic excellence and real-world experience from his internship (at WKRN News 2) in Nashville,” WHO News Director Rod Peterson said. “He’s a bright, young talent with a promising future in weather forecasting.”

Where is WHO’s Gabe Prough going?

Glanzmann takes over the weekend role from Gabe Prough. The Ball State alum joined WHO in 2022 as a meteorologist and digital multimedia journalist. Prough exits his role as WHO’s weekend meteorologist to move into a weekday role, contributing feature stories for Today In Iowa.

“This is the first time I’ve had weekends off in 6 years,” Prough said in a Facebook post, “so I’m super excited to spend more time with my family and friends.”

Prough has also been featured in an online segment called “Gabe on the Go,” which features different places and attractions across Iowa.

Brad Edwards and Jason Parkin round out WHO’s weather team

Two familiar faces are remaining with WHO’s weather team as well.

Peterson says Jason Parkin and Brad Edwards are serving as contributors for the WHO weather team alongside long-time meteorologists Ed Wilson, Jeriann Ritter, and Megan Salois. Edwards joined the station in July after ending a 28-year run at competitor WOI Local 5 in January.

“Together, they form a team we’re proud to say has the most Iowa experience on the air because we understand how important weather is to Central Iowans,” Peterson said.
