AMES — Over the years, the Iowa State and Drake women’s basketball teams have developed a nice rivalry with the two in-state foes both having their share of success over the others.
Bragging rights will once again be on the line when the 15th-ranked Cyclones (5-0) play Drake (1-2) at the Knapp Center in Des Moines on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Iowa State won the last showdown of the two teams in 2024, picking up an 80-78 victory over the Bulldogs. Drake won the 2023 matchup with an 85-73 win in Des Moines.
Drake is coming off a 100-58 loss to the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Nov. 13. The Bulldogs got a chance at redemption by taking on a highly ranked Iowa State team that has cruised through the early part of the season.
The Cyclones have coasted to 5-0 and are coming off a dominating 98-52 win over Norfolk State on Nov. 16. Addy Brown tallied the program’s first triple-double since 2014 in the victory.
