Two separate parts of westbound Interstate 80 are going to be closed for construction work in Polk and Dallas counties.
Drivers, be aware of the upcoming detours and exercise caution in any construction zones.
When will the Iowa DOT close westbound I-80 near the Southwest Mixmaster?
The first closure will happen on westbound Interstate 80 between the Southwest Mixmaster and Grand Prairie Parkway. Crews will close westbound I-80 from 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, weather permitting, for patching work on the roadway.
When will the Iowa DOT close westbound I-80 near the Northeast Mixmaster?
A smaller portion of I-80 will close from 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, until 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, weather permitting. Traffic will only be closed through the Northeast Mixmaster so crews can set a sign truss.
The backup time and date will be from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, until 4 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Where’s the detour when Iowa DOT closes westbound I-80 at the Southwest Mixmaster?
Drivers will need different detours depending on how they approach the Southwest Mixmaster:
When sections of the Northeast Mixmaster close on Monday night, the detour will send drivers north on I-35. They should exit at Corporate Woods Drive in Ankeny, merge onto southbound I-35 and then use the open portion of the mixmaster to reach westbound I-80.
