The Adel Breakout Rodeo will feature two nights of rodeo action by the Wright Rodeo Co. on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Dallas County Fairgrounds. Rock the Barkyard
5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 at Soumas Court, Perry.
The Hotel Pattee and Courtyard Cafe are partnering with Raccoon River Pet Rescue again for another Rock the Barkyard event on Thursday, Sept. 4. The event will feature live music by Iowa Singer/Songwriter Andrew Hoyt, plus signature cocktails from Courtyard Cafe with proceeds supporting Raccoon River Pet Rescue. Pet supplies and donations will also be collected to help even more animals in the community. Let’s make it another unforgettable night! Bring your friends, your dancing shoes, and your big hearts.
Prairie Awakening – Prairie Awoke Celebration
10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Kuehn Conservation Area, 32849 Houston Ave., Earlham.
Every fall Dallas County Conservation invites the public to gather at Kuehn Conservation Area to experience the songs, dances, games, food, and stories of our Indigenous friends. This year Dallas Chief Eagle, master hoop dancer, will return and bring his oldest daughter Jasmine and her family, who are also champion hoop dancers and storytellers. Their interactive and entertaining presentation shares teachings related to healthy life choices, mental resilience, and our connection to nature. There will be Native games and demonstrations in the morning, dancing and music in the afternoon, and release of tagged monarchs and a rehabilitated raptor as part of the celebration. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket — visitors often bring their own umbrellas for shade as well. Traditional Native foods will be available for purchase at a Meskwaki food truck. Family Fun Day
1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at The Brenton Arboretum.
Bring the entire family out for this fun afternoon of adventures at The Brenton Arboretum. The afternoon will offer many hands on activities and events for kids and families of all ages. Live animals, live and interactive music, yoga on the lawn for all ages, kids crafts, family make and take activities and so much more. Free-will donation. No registration or tickets necessary.

Adel Parks and Rec Power Wheels Nationals
11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Kinnick-Feller Park, Adel.
The fourth annual Adel Parks and Rec Power Wheels Nationals, presented by Alley Auto Sales and BigDeal Car Care, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13. Race day registration will be from 9-10 a.m. with races beginning at 11 a.m. Races will be held for ages 2-7. The divisions include Limited Pro Stock – ages 2 to 4, Pro Stock – ages 5 to 7 and Outlaw – ages 5 to 7. Bring your own power wheels vehicle or use a community sponsored power wheels vehicle. Concert on the Prairie
6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at The Brenton Arboretum.
Join The Brenton Arboretum for an open air concert featuring Luke Stutzman, winner of the 2023 Iowa Music Awards Acoustic Artist of the Year award. Tickets are required for each person in attendance. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Arrive early and purchase a drink and bite to eat then sit back and enjoy the show. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy the great music and beautiful arboretum views. Members are $20 per ticket. Non-members are $25 per ticket. A minimum of 20 tickets must be sold for concert to be held. In the event of severe weather or lightning on Sept. 13, watch Facebook and TheBrentonArboretum.org for updates on the concert.
Perry Lutheran Homes Community Concert
6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at Eden Acres Campus, Perry Lutheran Homes, 1300 28th St., Perry.
Perry Lutheran Homes invites the public to a special indoor community concert featuring the Perry Bible Church Praise Band, with members Randy “Doc” McCaulley, David Cannon, and Vic Blitz — delivering an inspiring blend of uplifting Christian music. The concert will start at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19. Food and beverage will be available for a free-will donation.
