IOWA CITY — Iowa football center Logan Jones was named to the USA TODAY Sports preseason All-America second team.
Jones has been a fixture at center for the Hawkeyes, starting 38 games combined across the last three seasons at Iowa. Jones could have pursued a future in the NFL this offseason but instead decided to return for another run in Iowa City. He now enters the 2025 campaign regarded among the best offensive linemen in the Big Ten.
Jones is one of the holdovers from an Iowa offensive unit that helped pave the way for star running back Kaleb Johnson’s All-America campaign last season.
“I don’t think we’re even close (to being done growing) and I think that’s the most exciting part,” Jones said about Iowa’s offensive line at Big Ten Media Days in July. “We’ve got some young guys that are going to get opportunities to play this year and I’m sure excited for them. The second you think you’re ‘microwaved,’ you’re done for. You’re going to get beat.
“Everybody in that room knows that we’re not where we want to be and we’re going to continue to grow and get better. You’ve got to do that every day if you want to be the best. If you just stop and get complacent, that’s when you get ran over.”
Iowa opens its 2025 season against UAlbany on Aug. 30.
