Caitlin Clark named to Team USA World Cup Qualifying roster

With the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup occurring in Germany this September, Iowa Hawkeyes legend Caitlin Clark has officially been named to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament Team, per USA Basketball’s Feb. 11 announcement.

Clark joins a roster that features Indiana Fever teammate Aliyah Boston. Other stars include 2024 Olympic gold medalists Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young.

Along with Clark, Paige Bueckers, Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen and Angel Reese will make their senior national team competitive debuts. Meanwhile, Boston will compete for the USA for the first time since the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Antwerp, Belgium.

The team will be coached by USA Basketball Women’s National Team head coach Kara Lawson. Fever head coach Stephanie White will serve as an assistant coach alongside Natalie Nakase and Nate Tibbetts.

USA Basketball Women’s National Team managing director Sue Bird selected the roster and will continue to evaluate players prior to selecting a final team for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

The 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from March 11-17. Team USA has already qualified for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin by virtue of winning the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.

Clark set numerous WNBA rookie records in her first professional season with the Indiana Fever in 2024. But, Clark’s sophomore season was derailed by a series of injuries that limited her 2025 campaign to just 13 games played.

In 53 WNBA regular-season games, Clark is averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game on 40.5% field goal shooting, 32.9% 3-point shooting and 88.7% free-throw accuracy.
