Several school districts around central Indiana have already started up again for the 2026-2027 school year, but others still have a few more days of summer vacation left.
Here’s when a few of the remaining Indianapolis-area K-12 schools start up again for the 2026-27 school year according to district calendars.

Indianapolis Public Schools first day of school 2026-27
August 10, 2026, is the first day of class for Indianapolis Public Schools.
Decatur Township first day of school
August 5, 2026, is the first day of class for Decatur Township Schools.
Lawrence Township first day of school
August 6, 2026, is the first day of classes for Lawrence Township Schools.
Pike Township first day of school
August 6, 2026, is the first day of classes for Pike Township Schools.
Washington Township first day of school
August 6, 2026, is the first day of class for Washington Township Schools.
