A suspected gas exposure at a home in Fort Branch, Indiana, killed a Haubstadt man and left an Evansville woman in critical condition Wednesday, the authorities said.

In a statement to news media Thursday morning, the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as 24-year-old Dylan M. Coston.

Faith Brown, 24, was in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon, according to Sheriff Bruce Vanoven.

Vanoven previously stated the pair was found unresponsive Wednesday night in the basement of a home in the 200 block of Willard Street in Fort Branch following a suspected gas exposure. First responders were dispatched to home just after 8:15 p.m.

Vanoven said Thursday his office would not be releasing additional information at this time.
