Colts among interested teams in Trey Hendrickson before signing with Ravens

Entering Day 3 of the NFL’s free agency negotiating window, the Indianapolis Colts are reportedly keeping tabs on top pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.

UPDATE: Trey Hendrickson has signed with the Ravens. According to ESPN, the Colts were one of a few teams, along with the Bills, Bucs, Commanders, and Eagles, that were involved with Hendrickson before he headed to Baltimore.

According to SI’s Albert Breer, “all eyes” are on the Ravens, who are no longer acquiring Maxx Crosby. They could now turn their focus to Hendrickson.

Along with saying that the Colts are keeping tabs on Hendrickson, Breer also mentioned the Eagles and the Cowboys as well.

If the Colts can reach a new deal with Daniel Jones, that will help open up a lot of salary cap space for them to potentially land Hendrickson.

The Colts and Trey Hendrickson have often been connected this offseason

The Colts’ defensive end position needs to be reshaped, with Kwity Paye now with the Raiders, while Samson Ebukam and Tyquan Lewis are free agents as well. In addition to that, “more fuel,” as Chris Ballard put it, is needed up front. The Colts ranked 30th in ESPN’s pass rush win rate last season.

There is also familiarity for Hendrickson in Indianapolis, with Lou Anarumo as the defensive play caller and Marion Hobby as the new defensive line coach. The three spent several years in Cincinnati together.

Not to be overlooked either, the Colts expressed interest in the star defensive end last offseason.
