What is clear from the drone footage IndyStar visual journalists captured is that some areas will be cleaning up for awhile.

Muncie flooding

On Aug. 13, Muncie was overwhelmed by surging rivers and floodwater. The catastrophic flooding led to two deaths in the area as well as damage to roads, highways and homes.

Riverwood flooding near Noblesville

The Riverwood neighborhood north of Noblesville saw extreme flooding on Aug. 14, especially along the White River. The floods damaged homes and forced residents to evacuate.

Broad Ripple flooding in Indianapolis

Catastrophic flooding reached Indianapolis on Aug. 15. The Broad Ripple community was among those that faced high waters as the White River overflowed, and some residents were forced to evacuate from their homes. Rocky Ripple was also hit hard by the floodwaters and residents were forced to evacuate while volunteers rushed to fill sandbags as levees leaked.

Fall Creek in Pendleton flooding

Fall Creek and other Indiana waterways swelled out of their banks, in some cases hitting historic highs. Falls Park in Pendleton was closed for two days to account for the flooding and high school football scrimmage games were rescheduled.

Hazel Dell Parkway flooding in Carmel

In Carmel, the Hazel Dell Parkway bridge suffered extreme flood damage. The bridge could need a total replacement, Hamilton County leaders said. Water around the bridge continued to flow Aug. 18 into a nearby quarry. Carmel officials are concerned the White River could be redirected to a quarry, which could destroy infrastructure leading to the discharge of raw sewage into the water.
