Three Mariano’s grocery stores in the Chicago suburbs are set to close this summer, according to company spokesperson Amanda Puck.
The move comes after parent company Kroger announced plans to close 60 stores nationwide over the next 18 months.

Here’s what we know.
Where are Mariano’s stores closing?
The following Illinois stores are scheduled to close:
The store in Buffalo Grove will close on Aug. 8, while the Bloomingdale location will close on Aug. 15 and the Northbrook will close on Aug. 22, according to Puck.
Kroger to close one of its Illinois locations
Kroger is also closing one of its Peoria stores located at 3311 N Sterling Avenue, effective around Aug. 2, a company spokesperson said.
“This closure is part of a larger company-wide decision to run more efficiently and ensure the long-term health of our business,” the spokesperson said. “While we are leaving this location, we will offer each impacted associate the opportunity to transfer to a new location.”
The company said it expects “a modest financial benefit” from the closures and pledged “to reinvest” the savings from the closing “back into the customer experience.”
