ROCKFORD, IL — Rockford Christian School plans to bring all of its students from prekindergarten through 12th grade under one roof starting as early as the fall of next year.
The private school of just over 700 hundred students will be closing its Lower School campus at 220 Hemlock Lane and renovating its Upper School at 1401 N. Bell School Road to accommodate all students in the same building.
According to the school, the move is part of its long-term strategic plan and a vision of the school’s leaders.
“In the words of one board member and alumnus, ‘It has always been a long-term dream of the school to be one school on one campus.’” said Head of School Jahna Duda. “We’re pleased to finally start making that dream a reality.”
The school has hired architectural firm, Risepointe, to plan for the renovation of the Bell School Road campus to accommodate all grade levels. According to the school, the plans are being designed with thoughtful intention for safety, age-appropriate spaces, and academic and spiritual growth for students at every level.
The school plans to lease its building on Hemlock Lane to another educational institution.
“We are delighted that our founding school building will have a new stage of life and will continue to be filled with the joy of learning,” Duda said.
Rockford Christian School will celebrate its 65th anniversary next school year.
