Midland’s Anna McGlasson was voted the Peoria area’s 2025 preseason volleyball player of the year, according to fans who voted in the online poll this week.
The 6-foot-1 junior middle hitter/right side collected 2024 Journal Star all-area honorable mention honors, all-Tri-County Conference first team and Class 1A IVCA second-team all-state. She recorded 275 kills, 249 digs, 91 blocks and 63 aces. She helped the Timberwolves to a 22-13 record and a Class 1A regional semifinal.
McGlasson led a small-school assault on the voting, earning more than a quarter of the votes. Anja Nelson of Brimfield, Chloe Eeten of Illini Bluffs and Tessa Arnott of Dunlap each earned at least 15 percent of the vote. Full results below and at pjstar.com.
This results have no bearing on who will be selected the Journal Star Player of the Year or will make the annual all-area team, which are scheduled to be announced after the season.
There were nine players on the ballot, part our list of volleyball players to watch released in mid-August. Voting opened Monday at pjstar.com and ended Friday afternoon.
