A Stuart hot dog truck-cum-food stand is planning to open its first restaurant in Port St. Lucie soon.
Mac’s Restaurant will be on Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard, where Think Greek was.
Mac’s will be an extension of The Dog Pound, which serves Nathan’s 100% beef hot dogs and made-to-order specialty dogs. Think Greek closed its restaurant to become a food truck again. Owners Marcus Collazo and partner Chrissy will serve some of The Dog Pound’s favorite menu items, such as Chicago dogs, they said on social media.
The exact menu was not available to TCPalm because Collazo has not responded to many calls, texts, emails and direct messages for more information.
The Dog Pound’s specials include El Cubano, topped with everything on a Cuban sandwich. The Ahi Tuna Dog has huge chunks of tuna soaked in a citrus-soy marinade served on a bed of seaweed with spicy kimchi, avocado and dragonfruit. It’s drizzled with a spicy sriracha aioli.
Collazo launched The Dog Pound food truck nearly six years ago, after a cancer diagnosis and the coronavirus pandemic “changed life forever,” he said on Facebook. Then he opened a small hot dog stand, which will continue to operate for special events, he said on Facebook.
