Times Square Diner, a local fixture since 2019, has announced that it is closing.
The final day of business will be Wednesday, August 5, at 7777 North Wickham Road in Melbourne.
“To every customer who chose to dine with us, recommended us to a friend, celebrated a special occasion here, or simply stopped in for a meal, thank you. Your support allowed us to live our dream for these past several years, and for that we will always be grateful,” the shutdown was announced on social media.
Owners Hernando and Sol Castellon cited increasing costs for food, supplies, insurance, utilities and labor, combined with economic difficulties affecting customers, made it impossible to continue running the business in a financially sustainable manner.
“We explored every option available and fought to keep our doors open, but ultimately we have reached the point where we can no longer continue,” the post stated.
The announcement follows the closure of the owners’ pizza restaurant, Time Square Pizza, earlier this year.
The restaurant was known for its extensive menu, featuring Greek specialties such as souvlaki platters alongside Italian, Spanish and classic American dishes. The restaurant has built a reputation for generous portions served at breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as its selection of desserts.
