This Florida county got ranked best in the state for places to live. Do you agree?

A North Florida county is the best to live in statewide, a report by Niche reveals.

Experts at Niche analyzed the overall livability of counties by examining several key factors, including the quality of local schools, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities. They each received an overall grade ranging from A+ to F.

What is the best county in Florida to live in?

According to Niche, St. Johns County was declared the best county in Florida to live in. It received a grade of A+.

The North Florida county has a population of 292,243 and houses one of the oldest cities in the country: St. Augustine. Niche writes that St. Johns County has many bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks.

It also notes that many retirees live in St. Johns County, and residents tend to be conservative.

Most residents tend to own their own homes, which are typically valued at around $457,600. For renters, the medium rent is around $1,775, over $300 higher than the national average.

St. Johns County is home to St. Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied city in America, and is located just south of Jacksonville, Florida. St. Johns is about 115 miles northeast of Orlando.

DeSoto County placed at the bottom of Niche’s ranking. It received a score of C.

With a population of 34,719, DeSoto County has only one city — Arcadia, its county seat — and several unincorporated towns: Hull, Nocatee, Brownville, Fort Ogden, and Lake Suz.

Niche reports that many retirees live in DeSoto County, and residents tend to be conservative. They add that most residents own homes, typically valued at around $151,500. The average rent is $910, nearly $400 below the national average.
