The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County issued a water quality advisory Aug. 13 for North Lido Beach, 50 Benjamin Franklin Drive in Sarasota.
The advisory was issued after tests completed Aug. 10 indicated that the water quality at North Lido Beach does not meet recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by state health officials.
North Lido Beach is at the northern end of Lido Key, north of the more heavily visited Lido Beach near St. Armands Circle.
What does the North Lido Beach water quality advisory mean?
DOH-Sarasota advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers.
Sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines.
The water quality was tested the morning of Aug. 12 and again Aug. 13.
When will the North Lido Beach water quality advisory end?
This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level.
