The Florida State Seminoles need better quarterback play, it’s as simple as that. It’s been a struggle at that position for FSU since Jordan Travis left the program, and it’s something that has to get corrected in 2026.
There’s some latent at the position for the Seminoles. The thing is, there’s a lot of unproven players as well, which brings into question the strength of the overall room as a whole. It’s vital for the Seminoles to find the right quarterback to guide their offense as head coach Mike Norvell returns to play-calling duties, and also because any team that doesn’t have stability at the quarterback position won’t be successful.
Fall camp got underway on Wednesday. With that said, let’s take a look at the quarterback situation in Tallahassee with the 2026 season set to commence at the end of August.

Starter: Ashton Daniels
Backup: Malachi Marshall
Daniels was named the starter almost immediately after he signed with Florida State. As long he plays at a high level, he’ll remain the starter throughout the season.
He simply has the most experience playing against high-level competition with stints in the SEC and ACC already, and he had a good first day of fall camp. As far as Marshall, he has real good arm talent, and with a good camp, he could put the backup role out of reach.
