Popular Church Mouse resale store in Palm Beach set to reopen early for season

A favorite resale store of Palm Beachers and visitors alike is set to reopen for the season, with a few big changes in store for shoppers.

The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea’s Church Mouse at 376 S. County Road will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18, according to a news release. The store will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is closed Sundays.

It’s an earlier reopening date than in years past, thanks to an increase in demand driven largely by a growing social media following, Church Mouse manager Laurie Kasprzyk previously told the Daily News. The Church Mouse typically opens about a month later.

“Customers returning to the store will find not only a beautifully restocked selection of treasures but also a freshly renovated space, thanks to a summer update designed to enhance the shopping experience,” the Church Mouse said.

The Church Mouse is known for offering high-end clothing, art and furniture at deeply discounted prices.

Sales from the shop help to boost the charitable efforts of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, which distributes more than $500,000 per year to nonprofit agencies that work with people in need of food, shelter and support in emergencies, the Church Mouse said.

In addition to in-person shopping, the Church Mouse this year also launched a website, churchmouseshop.com, where furniture pieces will be posted for sale.

The Church Mouse opened more than 50 years ago in Palm Beach in Bradley Park. Its home now is a landmarked Georgian Revival-style building designed by architect John Volk and completed in the 1930s.

People who want to donate to the Church Mouse can bring gently-used donations of clothing, accessories, electronics, shoes, kitchenware, china, crystal, furniture and books to the store’s “donor door” on the building’s south side near TD Bank. Pickup can be arranged for larger donation items.
