One of the Sarasota area’s busiest shopping and dining districts has just debuted another new restaurant.
Kitchen Social is now open at 257 N. Cattlemen Road Unit 81 in University Town Center (UTC) in the former space of Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern. The new restaurant is in The West District at UTC, along with the car-themed burger and craft beer chain Ford’s Garage from Fort Myers, Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar from West Palm Beach, and a new location for St. Armands Circle Greek eatery Blu Kouzina that recently opened.

Sarasota is the first location for Kitchen Social outside of Ohio (where Rusty Bucket was also from), and offers a “lively, chef-driven tavern serving scratch-made comfort food with a modern twist.”
What is Kitchen Social’s menu like?
Entrees include blackened shrimp capellini, chicken katsu, Szechuan noodles, teriyaki ribeye, twin filets, fish and chips, miso salmon, Sicilian sausage pasta, crispy chicken platter, pork ribeye, crab-crusted cod and Creole grouper. The menu also features various bowls (tuna or Thai chicken), sandwiches (blackened or crispy chicken), burgers (pimento cheese or double stack), tacos (blackened fish, braised short rib, crispy chicken) and pizzas (chicken sausage, mushroom, pepperoni, margherita.)
Rounding out the menu are a variety of starters, side and entree-sized salads and desserts, with brunch served as well on the weekend. The restaurant also has a full-liquor drink menu, with a Kitchen “Social Hour” available 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday in the bar and high top area with half-off almost all starters and pizzas, $3 off cocktails and wine by the glass, and $1 off draft beer.
What else is going on in University Town Center’s restaurant scene?
Kitchen Social joins such other recently opened restaurants in UTC as the aforementioned Blu Kouzina, Japanese eatery Zōtō and chef’s counter Yūgen — both created by the same James Beard Award-nominated restaurateurs, Jimmy and Johnny Tung — and Mama G’s German Bakery & Coffeehouse, which has other Sarasota locations on North and South Tamiami Trail.Upcoming additions to UTC’s dining scene include Miami Beach-founded pizzeria Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza and Olivia and On Swann, two acclaimed Tampa restaurants from the same award-winning restaurateur Chris Ponte.
Kitchen Social’s hours are 3-9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 941-315-6607 or visit ourkitchensocial.com.
