Is your Google search screen shaking? It's not your eyes. 6-7 strikes again

If you see your screen rocking back and forth this morning, don’t worry. It isn’t too much caffeine, and it’s not your eyes.

Google has hopped onto the “6-7” bandwagon.

If you search for “6-7” or “67” on Google, the page rocks or shakes. The effect happens on both desktops and cellphones.

Here’s what is happening and why.

Why is my Google search screen shaking?

If you search for “6-7” or “67” on Google, you’ll see the screen shaking or rocking back and forth (or up and down, depending on your interpretation).

The movement mimics the hand motion or hands moving up and down, palms up, as if you’re weighing two objects.

What does ‘6-7′ or ’67’ mean? That’s a little hard to explain

If you got distracted by your screen moving as you tried to figure out what 6-7 or 67 mean, here’s an answer to your question, sort of, since the meaning is a little (OK, a lot) fuzzy.

Dictionary.com, which tracks words that dominate search trends and social media conversations, made 67 its Word of the Year for 2025.

“’67,’ also spelled ‘6-7’ or ‘six-seven’ is a viral, ambiguous slang term that has waffled its way through Gen Alpha social media and school hallways,” dictionary.com said.

“While the term is largely nonsensical, some argue it means ‘so-so,’ or ‘maybe this, maybe that,’ especially when paired with a hand gesture where both palms face up and move alternately up and down.

“People also use 67 as a way to respond to questions or as a result of seeing the numbers “67” in consecutive order in the wild, such as on a math problem or within a phone number. (“How tall are you?” “67.” “How are you today?” “67.” “What’s 120 minus 53?” “67.”)

“Because of its murky and shifting usage, it’s an example of brainrot slang and is intended to be nonsensical and playfully absurd.”

The numbers, whether used as 6-7 or 67, are pronounced as six, seven, two separate words.

6-7 is thought to have come from the song “Doot Doot,” released by rapper Skrilla in December 2024.

Are you in on the joke when it comes to 67?

“It’s part inside joke, part social signal and part performance,” Steve Johnson, director of lexicography for the Dictionary Media Group at IXL Learning said in a news release.

“When people say it, they’re not just repeating a meme; they’re shouting a feeling. It’s one of the first Words of the Year that works as an interjection — a burst of energy that spreads and connects people long before anyone agrees on what it actually means.”

6-7 having impact in classrooms, on TV

In-N-Out pulled order No. 67 from its ticket system after the slang term “6-7” exploded online, prompting in-store disruptions when called.

Teachers report hearing “67” as a response to questions, whether it’s an answer during math class or a nonsensical reply to how the class is doing, according to dictionary.com.

The meme has appeared on South Park, been the name of a pardoned pig, and even caused uproars at college basketball games when a team scores 67 points.

In Miami, a pig named 6-7 was pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava earlier this month.
