When all else fails, try warming the heart’s cockles with a few dozen pushrod V8s at full growl.
NASCAR hopes to make that effort with its annual season-opening exhibition — the Cook Out Clash — but it won’t happen Sunday. The lingering winter blast covered NASCAR’s plans with thick blankets of snow.

So let’s hope for the best and try to cross your fingers inside those insulated Carhartt gloves you dragged from the sock drawer this weekend.
