North Central Florida residents can expect cooler temperatures in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. In Gainesville, the temperature will drop to 51 degrees on the evening of Nov. 26.
“We have a pretty strong cold front moving through tomorrow,” said Andrew Shashy, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Jacksonville. “Thanksgiving Day is going to be much, much colder.”
On Thanksgiving, the temperature will reach a high in the mid-60s, plunging into the high 30s in the evening, according to the National Weather Service. On Black Friday, residents can expect sunny skies, a 60-degree high and a low in the 30s that evening with the potential for light frost Saturday morning.
Temperatures are expected to reach near record seasonal highs through Nov. 26 in the lower to mid-80s and near record seasonal lows during the rest of the week. According to the weather service, average temperatures for this time of year are in the low 70s.
