FSU standout named D1Softball National Player of the Year

Florida State superstar Isa Torres added another historic accomplishment to her remarkable 2026 season on Wednesday, officially being named the D1Softball National Player of the Year. The award recognizes Torres as the top player in college softball following one of the most dominant individual seasons in both program and national history.

Torres became the centerpiece of FSU’s offense throughout the season while simultaneously establishing herself as one of the nation’s premier defensive players at shortstop. The junior finished the year hitting a program-record .530 with 16 home runs, 56 RBI’s, and her 1.569 OPS consistently ranked among the national leaders.

The numbers behind Torres’ season further illustrate how dominant she was from start to finish. Torres finished the year with 90 hits, 21 doubles, 78 runs scored, a .591 on-base percentage, and a .978 slugging percentage while striking out just six times all season.

The recognition adds to an already loaded postseason honors list for Torres, who also earned ACC Player of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and received multiple First Team All-American nods following Florida State’s standout season under head coach Lonni Alameda. Torres became one of the few players nationally to dominate both offensively and defensively at an elite level throughout the year.

Her impact helped lead Florida State to another ACC championship and one of the strongest overall resumes in the country during the regular season. Even after the Seminoles’ postseason run came to an end, Torres continued to emerge as one of the defining players of the 2026 college softball season.

For Florida State, the award represents another major milestone for a program that has consistently remained among the national powers in softball. For Torres individually, it cements her 2026 campaign as one of the greatest seasons ever produced by a Seminole.
