FSU softball run-rules Notre Dame, wins series

The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles softball team beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 10-0 on Friday at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Florida. They clinched the series with the win, their 23rd in a row. They are now 34-4 overall and 11-0 in ACC play.

FSU opened the scoring in the second inning when Hayley Griggs tripled home Ashtyn Danley. Makenna Sturgis drove her in with a groundout before Isa Torres homered to right, making it a 3-0 game.

They blew the game open in the next inning, scoring five runs. Shelby McKenzie led the inning off with a walk before Kennedy Harp homered. A single, hit by pitch, and an intentional walk of Torres loaded the bases with one out for Jaysoni Beachum. She drove in one run with a sacrifice fly before a wild pitch let another run score, and Marin Heller cleared the bases with a double, putting FSU up 8-0.

Four straight singles to start the fourth inning made it a 10-0 game. Florida State finished with 12 hits, as eight different players had one or more. Griggs, Harp, and Danley all had two or more hits at the bottom of the lineup.

Danley got the start on the mound, pitching four shutout innings before Bella Dimitrijevic closed it out. The duo allowed just one hit and issued two walks, against six strikeouts.

FSU and Notre Dame will return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET for Game Three of the series. The game will be streamed on the ACC Network.
