Florida State baseball’s season took a sobering turn Saturday when the Seminoles’ home-run leader, Myles Bailey, was seriously injured while running the bases in the ninth inning at Dick Howser Stadium.
Bailey, FSU’s top power hitter, was hurt while advancing to second base in the bottom of the eighth. The injury appeared severe enough that medical personnel immobilized him and carried him off the field on a stretcher as a stunned crowd watched in silence.

The atmosphere inside Dick Howser Stadium turned quiet as teammates gathered nearby and fans stood during the lengthy delay. Moments later, social media was filled with reactions from shocked Florida State supporters expressing concern and frustration over the loss of one of the team’s most productive players.
Several fans on X compared the injury to former Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis’ leg injury suffered Nov. 18, 2023, against Northern Alabama, which ended his football career. Others questioned whether misfortune has followed Seminoles teams during periods of success with star players.
Florida State did not immediately release details about Bailey’s condition following the game.
The Seminoles now await further medical evaluation, hoping their season—and a key contributor’s health—can recover from a moment that cast a long shadow over an otherwise promising campaign.
FSU beat Duke 12-11 to improve to 21-5 and 7-1 in the ACC.
