The Bucs’ secondary is going to have a lot of questions to answer this season. Health is going to play a big role in how effective they can be, but they also need to see a big step from some second-year players. The likes of Benjamin Morrison and Jacob Parrish need to show they can help lead a secondary after the team shows they were invested in them by letting Jamel Dean go in free agency.
If they don’t, folks are going to compare the two of them. And already, we are seeing Dean on his new team making plays.
In training camp for the Steelers, Dean made a play on future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers as he jumped a pass and returned it for a touchdown. Bucs fans know what that looks like after seeing him do it twice in his career.
The Bucs are moving Parrish from nickel to outside corner, the role left behind by Dean in free agency. The team is making a somewhat big gamble in the undersized Parrish, but he showed as a rookie that he is capable of making plays and finding the ball.
The sooner he makes plays the better to the benefit of the Bucs franchise and its fans.
