Florida Highway Patrol troopers are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who was hit and killed by a big rig on Interstate 75 on July 28.
Here’s what we know:
According to FHP, about 1:25 a.m. on July 28 troopers were called to I-75 southbound at the U.S. 27 overpass to investigate a crash.
Arriving on scene, troopers were told a semitractor-trailer had been southbound on I-75 in the center lane when a pedestrian on the overpass darted into the roadway, directly in front of the huge vehicle.
The pedestrian was hit and died at the location.
The heavy-duty vehicle stopped, officials said. The driver, who’s from Loganville, Georgia, was not injured, troopers said.
Troopers said the victim was a white male in his mid 30s to early 40s, and was not wearing any clothing.
FHP has released a photo it hopes someone may recognize. It shows a drawing of some kind on the man’s body.
FHP also has a yellow and blue book the man had called “Alcoholics Anonymous.” It has a large A at the front, and the words “This is the Fourth Edition of the Big Book, the Basic Text for Alcoholics Anonymous.”
FHP officials have been unsuccessful in identifying the victim.
