The Bridge to Bridge Path on Okaloosa Island replaces the former bike path that was dangerously close to Highway 98 traffic. The one-of-a-kind photoluminescent path will connect the John T. Brooks Bridge (when bridge construction is complete) and the William T. Marler Bridge, featuring an approximately 4-mile, pedestrian-friendly, 12-foot-wide path for safer bicycling and walks/runs. An opening celebration was held Oct. 23, 2025.

According to an FDOT news release, improvements along the three-mile corridor include:

No lane closures will occur from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Work is scheduled to be completed mid-2026.

“Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather,” the release said. “Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. Speeding fines are doubled when workers are present.”
