Dolphins place veteran CB on IR, ending his 2025 season

The Miami Dolphins are placing veteran cornerback Kader Kohou on the injured reserve, officially ending his 2025 season before it began, head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Wednesday.

The injury occurred Saturday in a training camp practice, but McDaniel wasn’t sure what to make of it when he spoke to reporters earlier this week.

“It’s a day-to-day evaluation with some swelling,” McDaniel said Monday. “So, we’re a couple of evaluations away, in the next couple of days. We’re really just taking it day by day and seeing where it’s at.”

Kohou, 26, has played in 47 games and started 38 in three seasons with the Dolphins. While he played wide cornerback at times earlier in his career, Miami found a home for Kohou in the slot and he appeared primed to fill that role for the team again in 2025.

With Kohou lost for the season, the Dolphins are likely to turn to veteran nickel cornerback Mike Hilton to take over in the slot. The former Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals signed with the Dolphins a few days ago along with fellow free agent Jack Jones, injecting some much-needed experience into a cornerback room that was severely lacking in that regard.

Kohou re-signed with the Dolphins earlier this offseason on a restricted free agent tender. He’s due to become an unrestricted free agent next spring.
