Bay District Schools will celebrate the completion of a new AstroTurf football field at Deane Bozeman School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Aug. 14, before the Bucks take on the Freeport Bulldogs in the Kickoff Classic.
The ceremony is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. at the Bozeman football stadium.
Installation took approximately seven weeks and cost just under $1 million. The project was funded through local capital improvement tax dollars.
AstroTurf a company that has a history dating to 1965 installed the field. Its playing surfaces have been used in Major League Baseball and 11 Super Bowls.
“This is an investment that will benefit far more than just our football program,” Superintendent Mark McQueen said. “This field gives our students and community a high-quality facility they can be proud of, and we’re grateful to our community for supporting capital investments that improve our schools and facilities.”
Bozeman is the second Bay District Schools campus to receive a new AstroTurf field as part of the district’s ongoing investment in athletic facilities. Rutherford’s Vera Shamplain Sports Complex unveiled its new turf field last spring. Mosley is next in line to receive a new turf field on its campus.
