What once was seven area high school football teams bidding for a state title is now three headed into the second round of the FHSAA playoffs.
In the Rural class, sixth-seeded Baker (11-0) travels to third-seeded Chiefland for a 6:30 p.m. (CDT) kickoff. The winner advances to the Final 4, where the victor of fourth-seeded Taylor County (10-1) and fifth-seeded Pahokee (8-3) awaits next week.
In the Region 1-2A semifinals, third-seeded South Walton (8-3) revisits second-seeded Pensacola Catholic (10-1) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The winner advances to face the victor of top-seeded Bolles (10-1) and fourth-seeded Florida High (5-6) next week for a Final 4 bid.
In the Region 1-4A semifinals, second-seeded Choctaw (10-1) hosts third-seeded Columbia (9-2) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Joe Etheredge Stadium. The winner advances to face the victor of top-seeded St. Augustine (10-1) and Ed White (9-2) next week for a Final 4 bid.
