The Fourth of July is a federal holiday, which means non-essential federal offices, stock markets and most banks will be closed.
There will also be no U.S. mail delivery, although other delivery services such as UPS and FedEx will be available.
Most restaurants, grocery and retail stores will be open.

The Fourth of July is on a Friday this year, the first long July 4 weekend in years.
Are government offices closed on the Fourth of July?
Nonessential federal offices will be closed.
On June 23, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that state offices will be closed on Thursday July 3, as well as on July 4.
“In anticipation of America’s upcoming semiquincentennial celebration in 2026, I am giving state employees a longer weekend this year to celebrate,” DeSantis said in a release. “I hope our state employees use this additional time off to enjoy Florida’s Freedom Summer with their loved ones and reflect on the importance and meaning of our nation’s founding.”
Will mail be delivered on the Fourth of July?
Post offices and other service retail locations are closed Friday and there will be no mail delivery, according to the U.S. Postal Service holiday schedule. Postal services will reopen at the usual times on Saturday.
Will UPS deliver on the Fourth of July?
There will be no UPS pickup or delivery service on July 4, according to the company’s holiday schedule.
UPS Store locations may be closed or have modified hours — check with your local store — and UPS Express Critical will still be available.
Will FedEx deliver on the Fourth of July?
There will be no FedEx pickup or delivery service on July 4 and FedEx Freight and FedEx Logistics will be closed, the company website says. FedEx offices may be closed or have modified hours, check your local office for details.
FedEx Custom Critical services will be available.
Are banks closed in Florida on the Fourth of July?
Yes. Banks are closed on the 11 federal holidays observed by the Federal Reserve.
Bank websites will remain open for many banking services. However, be aware that some banking services may be unavailable, and planning ahead is advised. Checks deposited on July 4 may not become available and automated bill payment services may not process until the next business day.
Will ATMs be open on the Fourth of July?
Yes. You’ll be able to get money out, able to check balances, and (where applicable) deposit cash as you usually do. But deposits may not count toward your account until the next day.
Are stock markets closed on the Fourth of July?
American ones are, and they’ll also be closing early the day before.
The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will close at 1 p.m. ET (1:15 p.m. for eligible options) on Thursday, July 3, and will remain closed until they open again for normal trading hours on Monday, July 7.
NYSE American Equities, NYSE Arca Equities, NYSE Chicago, and NYSE National late trading sessions are also closed Friday.
The U.S. bond market will close at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, and will remain closed until Monday, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Stock markets in London, EuroNext Paris. Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo markets will be open for normal trading.
