7 Jaguars players on roster bubble entering Week 2 of preseason

With a joint practice and a preseason game upcoming, the next few days for the Jacksonville Jaguars will be critical in the evaluation process. These game-like settings are likely to carry more weight in the overall evaluation of each player.

So for these seven roster hopefuls, if they hope to continue making a push towards the 53-man, performing well will be a must. Otherwise, there may not be much time left to make up any lost ground.

RB J’Mari Taylor

With LeQuint Allen sidelined for the time being, Taylor is likely to see more opportunities. Coming off a good showing in the preseason opener, can he build upon that performance and force the Jaguars to roster a fourth running back?

WR Austin Trammell

Trammell faces a similar situation. He’s in a crowded wide receiver room and the roster math may be what keeps him off the final 53-man. That said, he saw some opportunities come his way on Tuesday with Parker Washington out and he brings special teams experience to this position group.

TE Quintin Morris, Hunter Long

The top of this depth chart is set between Brenton Strange, Nate Boerkircher, and Tanner Koziol. It’s not a given that the Jaguars keep a fourth tight end — Morris and Long will have to earn that spot –, but if they do, these two are battling for one spot.

LB Yasir Abdullah, Jalen McLeod

For either of these players to make the team, it would require the Jaguars to go heavy and keep six linebackers on the roster, which they did do last year. If that’s the case, then Abdullah and McLeod are competing for one spot. Abdullah had a very good outing in the preseason opener. He has special teams experience as well. McLeod has the versatility to line up at edge rusher if needed.

CB Christian Braswell

Braswell earned regular snaps as the second half of last season unfolded, but his roster spot may be in jeopardy. Jabbar Muhammad has continued to perform well, and if the Jaguars keep just five cornerbacks, that could leave Braswell on the outside looking in. Also potentially pushing him is UDFA Devon Marshall.
