Sidery: Lakers have 'exploratory trade interest' in Miles Bridges

The NBA’s trade deadline is on Feb. 5, which is only about two weeks from now. That means time is starting to run out for the Los Angeles Lakers to make a deal that would improve their roster and bring them closer to winning their 18th world championship.

As far as players who could address some of the Lakers’ weaknesses, many have been focusing on players such as Herbert Jones of the New Orleans Pelicans. According to Evan Sidery of Forbes, there is a new name to add to the list of potential targets for the team: the Charlotte Hornets’ Miles Bridges.

“The [Milwaukee] Bucks, [Los Angeles] Clippers, [Sacramento] Kings, and Lakers have recently shown exploratory trade interest in Miles Bridges,” Sidery wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“The Hornets appear open to moving Bridges for the right price.”

Bridges, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound power forward who is 27 years of age, is averaging 19.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game this season, although he’s shooting just 33.7% from 3-point range. While the Lakers need two-way players at the guard and wing spots, power forward is a position they don’t really need help at right now.

Bridges will make $25 million this season, so he wouldn’t be a cheap option. Then there is the matter of his off-the-court incidents — namely, the domestic violence incidents he has allegedly been involved in. As a result, one has to wonder what type of public reception he may face in the Los Angeles area if he were to become a member of the Lakers.
